Riverside

The River Thames

The stretch of the Thames at Wallingford is one of the most beautiful in the country. Explore by boat either hiring your own at Benson or on an organised boat trip from the Riverside Park. Alternatively, for the more energetic, you could walk the Thames Path.

Riverside Park is the perfect venue for you to enjoy a picnic, the outdoor heated swimming pool and the paddling pool.

Salter’s Steamers run boat trips from Wallingford to Abingdon and Reading during the summer months. To find out more and view a timetable, visit the Salter’s Steamers website.

Find out more about boat hire at Benson. Hire of rowing boats, canoes and motorboats available by the hour.

Royal Swan Upping is an annual ceremonial voyage along the River Thames in which a census of the swan population is taken. It happens during the third week in July of each year.

SELF DRIVE BOAT HIRE

During the summer months you can hire an electric boat from just in front of the Boat House, the popular riverside pub.

From here it is a pleasant cruise downstream to Goring and Streatley or upstream towards Benson and Shillingford.
