Parks and Gardens

The Town Council owns and maintains The Castle Gardens, The Bullcroft and The Kinecroft, all of which are open to the public.

Castle Gardens

The Castle Gardens are open to the public from 10am – 4pm  every weekday in summer and 10am - 5.30pm. at the weekends and 10am - 3pm in winter.

The Gardens were gifted to Wallingford for the quiet enjoyment of local people, and offer a peaceful range of places to sit or wander.  The Castle Gardens is a dog free area with the exception of assistance dogs. There are four band concerts held  during the summer months on Sunday afternoons.  These are generally held on one Sunday in June, July, August and September.

The Bullcroft
The Bullcroft has football pitches, tennis courts, a bowling green and play areas for both young children and teenagers. The Recreation Room buildings in the Bullcroft house the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, which is open Mondays and Fridays from 10.00–13.00 and Tuesdays from 10.00–15.00 (Tel: 01491 833118), the Rainbow Pre-School and the hand bell ringers.

The Kinecroft

The Kinecroft is a wide, open space that has been used for many years both for recreation such as dog walking and for town events like the Bonfire in November and the Classic Car Rally in May. Several times a year, the fair comes to Wallingford and sets up on the Kinecroft.

The Town Council’s Parks and Gardens team also maintain the many flower displays around the town.

Buildings

We own three public buildings in the town: The Regal Centre, the Town Hall and the Bullcroft Recreation Rooms (see above).

Many sports and other events take place in the Regal Centre, including weekly Local Producers Markets on Saturdays and Country Markets on Fridays, while the Town Hall is used for both civic events and by local groups for sales, exhibitions and so on.

Both the Town Hall and the Regal Centre are available to hire by contacting us. Our splendid Grade 1 Listed Town Hall is also registered for civil marriages.Click here to find out more.
